ometimes , we
proud to hear someone's biography , someone's remarkable work in this small
city . But when we see it ourselves , we can't express the feelings of it .
About a month
ago ,when the college was on a vacation . I reached Nayaghusra in Surkhet .
After about three weeks of vacation to do the project work given by professor .
Here you listen what I saw . This story is about Matse Palak . It starts like this .
Late : Narendranath
Narendranath
Yogi of Surkhet built a fish pond in a small plot of land at a time when the
country was in a mass movement . He is a retired Indian Army veteran laid the foundation of a pond in 2043 B.S , with a vision as vast as the horizon . He
established the first pond in the Surkhet district , making the dawn of a new
era of Aquaculture .
He brought forth
a bounty of fish that not only nourished the community but also enriched their
livelihood . In the early days , Narendranath would bring species of fish from
Bhairawaha by using Plane .
Narendranath
educated his children from his pension and fish farming , managed the household
expenses . At the period of 10 years civil war narendranath's son puspanath ( Who was born in 2037 falgun
16) embarked in a journey to serve the nations , joining the Nepal Armed Police
at that time it is called as Shahi Nepal armed police . He dedicated 17th
years of his life to serve of nation .
After retiring from his duty , Puspanath found himself at a crossroads. Puspanath wanted to develop the fish farm of his father .
In 2077 , he
registered the fish farm in the name of
his wife under the name of " Sunita Agriculture and Fish Animal Husbandry ." with an initial
investment of Rs 10 lakhs ; 2 lakhs in current and 8 lakhs in fixed capital .
In year 2078 , his father ( Narendranath ) passed away . Then , puspanath
realized the true essence of his father's legacy - the fish farm.
Today , puspanath carries forward his father legacy with pride and determination ,under his stewardship . The farm has flourished five ponds spreads across 16 kattha land and each pond in each 3 kattha . With care and modern techniques ,the farms yields a harvest of 600 kg of fish annually ,generating profit of upto 3 lakhs . Showcasing the potential on indigenous entrepreneurship in the heart of Nepal .
The farm is more than just a fishery ; it's a symbol of sustainability and diversity . Alongside fish , puspanath and his wife cultivates vegetables tends to a poultry farm and nurtures fruits orchards ensuring a holistic approach to farming . Equipped with state-of-the-art technology from water pumps to PH measuring scales , electricity net , the farm operates with effectively and efficiency .
For feeding to the fish they use nutrient rich blend of grains like Pina , maize , wheat , lentils , millet , Soyabeans and also sometimes they use manure of domestic animals as well as Urea and Dap fertilizers . To ensure optimal growth and health of the Aquatic they monitoring and measuring the acidity level of water . The spices of fish like Grass crap , Silver Crap , common Crap , Rahu , Big Red etc found in that farm . Puspanath tell us ," Grow of single spices of fish is impossible because they are interdependent to each others ."
But we know . No
journey is smooth and easy . Puspanath also faced the challenges of sometimes
outbreaks of diseases and sometimes of predatory birds and snakes . As well as
lack of training and development . But he learned . And weathered these storms , emerging stronger and more
determined than ever . He used Salt ,lime and others things for control the
diseases and met every hurdle by patience , resilience and ingenuity . And
